The Science

Sculptra® - an injectable dermal filler uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) to stimulate collagen production in the skin.

Works gradually over time by encouraging your body to produce its own natural collagen.

Favoured for its ability to restore volume and improve skin texture in a more long-term, natural way compared to other fillers.

Especially effective for areas that need structural support, like the mid-face or temples.

How It Works

1. Injection:

Injected into the deep layers of the skin where collagen loss has occurred, typically in cheeks, temples, or jawline.

Usually done in a series of treatments over a few months to achieve the desired result.

2. PLLA Action:

The poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) particles in Sculptra act as a scaffold beneath the skin.

Stimulating fibroblast cells (responsible for producing collagen), a key protein that gives the skin its firmness and structure.

3. Collagen Production:

PLLA breaks down over time, the body gradually produces new collagen in response to the presence of the filler.

Leading to a subtle and natural-looking improvement in skin volume and smoothness.

4. Gradual Results:

Unlike fillers that provide instant results, Sculptra's effects develop gradually over several weeks to months, as collagen production takes time.

Results can last up to two years or longer, with many people opting for occasional touch-up treatments.
